It was a good run, but the Waldron Mohawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 76-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monrovia. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Saturday (61), Waldron still had to take the loss.
Several Mohawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Audrey Hogg, who scored 14 points. Alyssa Benson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 8 assists and 6 rebounds.
Leading Monrovia to victory were Allie Tallent and Ruby Murrell. Tallent scored 24 points, while Murrell scored 26 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Tallent has scored at least 25% of Monrovia's points. Another player making a difference was Emery Newlin, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Waldron now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Monrovia, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Waldron will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenwood Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on November 28th. Greenwood Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Monrovia, they will head out on the road to face off against Eminence at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eminence is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
