The 21st Century Charter COUGARS's's 22-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Hammond Central by a score of 74-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (64), 21st Century Charter still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, 21st Century Charter had strong showings from Ron Mosely, who scored 24 points along with four steals, and Terrence Hayes, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Hayes also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Lemetrius "Meachy" Williams, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and six assists.
Even though they lost, 21st Century Charter were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Hammond Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gregory Dotson, who scored 22 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Browder, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for 21st Century Charter and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Hammond Central, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
21st Century Charter's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hanover Central at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Hanover Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday. Hammond Central will be home for the holidays to greet Crown Point at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
