Carolina Forest has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The St. James Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carolina Forest will be strutting in after a victory while St. James will be coming in after a loss.
Last Thursday, Carolina Forest never let their opponents score. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Socastee 31-0 at home. Given Carolina Forest's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Socastee is ranked 119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, St. James was beaten by Sumter 42-14 on Thursday. St. James was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
St. James' defeat came about despite a quality game from Connor Schwalm, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 122 yards and a touchdown.
Carolina Forest's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for St. James, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Everything went Carolina Forest's way against St. James in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Carolina Forest made off with a 41-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carolina Forest since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
