The Hodgeman County Longhorns scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Ingalls 71-50. Hodgeman County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season.
Hodgeman County was led to victory by Taylor Bamberger and Morgan Ruff. Bamberger dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Ruff scored 23 points along with six assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bamberger has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kylee Reece, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Ingalls saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Stein dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Stein is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Jill Schmeeckle was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Hodgeman County's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Ingalls, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Hodgeman County will be playing at home against Minneola at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Minneola will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Hodgeman County is ranked 27th). Ingalls won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Meade at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Meade focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
