Indio has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will jump right back in to play the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Indio was able to grind out a solid win over Central, taking the game 64-53.
Capistrano Valley Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Desert Christian Academy with a sharp 69-49 victory on Thursday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-22.
Capistrano Valley Christian can attribute much of their success to Benjamin Makelela, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds, and Michael Ahern, who scored 25 points. Makelela is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cetin Seles, who scored 13 points.
Indio's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.4 points per game. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
