The Riverside Ram lost against the Briar Woods Falcons on January 8th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Riverside took a hard 61-46 fall against Briar Woods. While losing is never fun, Riverside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Briar Woods is ranked 12th).
Briar Woods got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hope Drake out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Drake has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Noelle Cabiness, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Briar Woods, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.
Riverside will look to defend their home court on Monday against Independence at 7:30 p.m. Independence is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Briar Woods, they will head out on the road to challenge Highland Springs at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Highland Springs knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Briar Woods likes a good challenge.
