Carlinville won the last time they faced Gillespie and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cavaliers came out on top against the Miners by a score of 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.

While Carlinville won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19.

Madeline Murphy paced Carlinville's offense, picking up ten kills. Murphy got some help from Rowan Nepute and her 16 assists. Ruthie Reels controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Carlinville's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Gillespie, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-10.

Looking ahead, Carlinville will challenge Marquette Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gillespie, they will face off against East Alton-Wood River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Miners are facing the Oilers at the right time seeing as the Oilers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
