Gar-Field is 0-10 against Charles J. Colgan since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Red Wolves will square off against the Sharks at 6:00 p.m. Gar-Field has given up an average of 22.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Gar-Field is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They lost 25-0 to Forest Park.
Gar-Field saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariana Biddle, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.
Meanwhile, Charles J. Colgan entered their tilt with John Champe on Thursday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They never let the Knights get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Sharks, who have now won eight matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
Dorsey Grose was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cate Jurack was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayli Lamboy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Charles J. Colgan lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Charles J. Colgan pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Gar-Field, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gar-Field has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Charles J. Colgan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Gar-Field suffered a grim 26-0 defeat to Charles J. Colgan in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Red Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
