Ridgefield Park has gone a perfect 10-0 against Dwight Morrow recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Scarlets will take on the Maroon Raiders at 4:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ridgefield Park has four straight wins, Dwight Morrow has 18 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Ridgefield Park had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Kearny on Saturday. The Scarlets blew past the Kardinals 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Scarlets, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Gabriella Rivera made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Ridgefield Park let Karylle Culala and Tiffany Filipek run wild. Culala went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Filipek went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was Filipek's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylene Romero, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Ridgefield Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Dwight Morrow came up short against Tenafly on Thursday, falling 15-3.
Ridgefield Park's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dwight Morrow, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything went Ridgefield Park's way against Dwight Morrow in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Ridgefield Park made off with a 27-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scarlets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
