Raegan Burgenstock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carlee Hamilton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Jackson came out on top against West Deptford on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Ironman/Ironladies were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Eagles. The win was nothing new for the Ironman/Ironladies as they're now sitting on four straight.
Serenity Taylor looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Maddie Wright was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Brynlee Smalley also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Jackson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Deptford only posted a batting average of .192.
General Brown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Jackson, their record is now 13-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. General Brown hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Jackson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
