Channel Islands has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Santa Paula Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Channel Islands was able to grind out a solid victory over Carpinteria, taking the game 53-46.
Channel Islands' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rajai Moody led the charge by scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Joshua Fernandez, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Santa Paula waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against Fillmore by a score of 59-49. Given Santa Paula's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while Fillmore is ranked 1253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Channel Islands now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Santa Paula, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Channel Islands came up short against Santa Paula in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 52-40. Can Channel Islands avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
