Berkeley has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Timberland Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Berkeley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Lucy Beckham 48-25. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Berkeley has managed all season.
Imani Levey and Amani Mccray were among the main playmakers for Berkeley as the former dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Levey set a new season high mark in blocks with four. Christiana Robbins was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Timberland entered their tilt with Stratford with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Timberland strolled past Stratford with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 37-18.
Timberland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was China Greene out in front who scored eight points along with six steals and five rebounds. Greene is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zion Prioleau, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Berkeley's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Timberland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Berkeley have been dynamite from deep this season, having only nailed 33% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Timberland struggles in that department as they've only made 31.1% of their threes per game this season. Given Berkeley's sizeable advantage in that area, Timberland will need to find a way to close that gap.
Berkeley beat Timberland 43-32 in their previous meeting on Friday. Will Berkeley repeat their success, or does Timberland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
