On Saturday, the Mater Lakes Academy Bears faced the Williston Red Devils in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mater Lakes Academy came out on top against Williston by a score of 61-52. The win was familiar territory for Mater Lakes Academy who now have four in a row.
Mater Lakes Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Reid, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. Reid has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khanye Moss, who scored 14 points.
Mater Lakes Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Williston, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mater Lakes Academy will square off against Riviera Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Williston, Williston and Chiefland will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Chiefland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 337th, while Williston is ranked ninth).
