The Harlan Hawks won against the Stevens Falcons on Tuesday with 52 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Harlan came out on top against Stevens by a score of 52-41. Given Harlan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Stevens is ranked 692nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Harlan to victory were Jaydin Thornton Murray Garrigan and Ruhama Salyers. Thornton Murray Garrigan scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Salyers dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Salyers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Romero, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Stevens lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mya Guzman. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points. Giana Monda was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Harlan's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Stevens, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
