The Mercyhurst Prep Lakers came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Seneca with points to spare, taking the game 66-49. For Mercyhurst Prep, this counts as revenge for the 58-54 loss the Bobcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Mercyhurst Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Craig Buckner, who scored 12 points along with five steals. Buckner hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Brzuz, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Mercyhurst Prep pushed their record up to 9-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Seneca, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Mercyhurst Prep will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Girard is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games. As for Seneca, they will head out on the road to take on the Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Iroquois focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
