Lewisville has gone a perfect 4-0 against Ware Shoals recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Lions will look to defend their home field against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lewisville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Thornwell 19-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won three matches in a row.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ware Shoals, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Calhoun County a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday.
Brennan Goode made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Madden, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Ware Shoals: the team is 12-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dalton Boyter, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Lewisville's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Ware Shoals, their win bumped their record up to 17-8.
