Mexia started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-19.
Meanwhile, Elkhart also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Groesbeck by a score of 3-1.
Elkhart actually scored more points across those four sets (92-91), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 27-25, 27-25, 12-25, 25-17.
Mexia will need to focus on slowing down Cali Boyd, one of several Elkhart players who made an impact when they last played. She had 20 digs. Boyd has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last five times she's played.
Mexia's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Elkhart, their loss dropped their record down to 20-13.
