The Hanahan Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight defeat. The match between them and Battery Creek wasn't particularly close, with Hanahan falling 66-47. Hanahan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Battery Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Hanahan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jonah Auckenthaler. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 40.4% of Hanahan's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Wilber, who scored seven points along with seven assists and two steals.
Leading Battery Creek to victory were Alizjah Mathis and Ethan Cox. Mathis scored 17 points along with eight steals, while Cox scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cox has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Que Williams, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Hanahan has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Battery Creek, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Philip Simmons the next time they take the court. Hanahan will host Philip Simmons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Battery Creek will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
