Lake Braddock is 9-1 against Fairfax since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bruins will venture away from home to face off against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. Lake Braddock is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Last Friday, Lake Braddock earned a 6-2 victory over West Potomac.
Mac Verdejo was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mae Brewin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Hailey Hackbarth was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Lake Braddock hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Potomac struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Fairfax didn't have quite enough to beat Chantilly on Wednesday and fell 3-1. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Fairfax's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Lake Braddock, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Lake Braddock's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Bruins have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Fairfax, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lake Braddock continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Lake Braddock's way against Fairfax in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Lake Braddock made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
