The San Marino Titans are taking a road trip to face off against the Royal Highlanders at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (San Marino 2, Royal 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Royal will be up against a hot San Marino squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. San Marino walked away with a 3-0 win over South Pasadena on Thursday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Tom?s Bilvado was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Bilvado wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chase Mena, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
San Marino hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Pasadena struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Royal fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against El Segundo on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-6. The Highlanders' loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Royal also got a good showing from Jonah Thompson, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Thompson posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Ethan Hall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Visage, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
San Marino's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Royal, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-2.
San Marino was able to grind out a solid victory over Royal in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Marino since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
