Accelerate Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Holy Cross Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Accelerate Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Accelerate Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They breezed by Holy Cross Academy at home to the tune of 70-43. With Accelerate Christian ahead 36-11 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Accelerate Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Danity Diaz, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds, and Audrey Jaramillo, who dropped a double-double on 38 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jaramillo has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hannah Kreusel, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Holy Cross' recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Midessa at home and fell 39-11. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Holy Cross in their matchups with Midessa: they've now lost three in a row.
The win got Accelerate Christian back to even at 8-8. As for Holy Cross, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything went Accelerate Christian's way against Holy Cross in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as Accelerate Christian made off with a 43-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Accelerate Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
