The Cristo Rey St. Martin Knights will head out on the road to take on the Regina Dominican Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cristo Rey St. Martin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Cristo Rey St. Martin scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 59-26 victory over Christian Heritage Academy on the road.
Cristo Rey St. Martin can attribute much of their success to Alexy Chapa, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, and Lilibeth Martinez, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Martinez pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Meanwhile, Regina Dominican suffered their closest defeat since November 13, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Latin by a score of 42-39.
Despite the defeat, Regina Dominican saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Fraterrigo dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian DeFranza, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Cristo Rey St. Martin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Regina Dominican, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Cristo Rey St. Martin have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Regina Dominican struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Cristo Rey St. Martin was dealt a bruising 64-17 defeat at the hands of Regina Dominican in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cristo Rey St. Martin was down 37-7.
