After losing to the Heritage Pioneers the last time they met, the Rustburg Red Devils decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Rustburg strolled past Heritage with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 47-33. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rustburg.
Rustburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maddie Knowles, who scored 11 points. The matchup was Knowles' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Tyree, who scored ten points.
Rustburg's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rustburg's road trip will continue as they head out to face Amherst County at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully Amherst County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to face off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
