Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Hartford's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Hartford lost a heartbreaker the last time they played West Bend West, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Orioles were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Spartans on Friday. Considering the Orioles have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Carter Kutz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kaiden Romens was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Landgraf, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Hartford is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Bend West, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Hartford and West Bend West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Orioles (ranked 17th) will meet Homestead (ranked 257th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, West Bend West will challenge Ripon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (40 vs. 290).
