On Friday Independence take on Strayhorn at Homecoming - 1993 North State Reunion - Red Out at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close match.
Independence were close but not close enough last week as they fell 14-16 to North Pontotoc. Independence got a solid performance out of senior R.J. Wilson, who rushed for 101 yards and 1 touchdown; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win.
Meanwhile, Strayhorn took a serious blow against East Webster, falling 0-46.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Strayhorn's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Independence defensive front that amassed four sacks against North Pontotoc, so we'll see if they are up to the task.
