Blue Ridge has gone 9-1 against Greer recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Fighting Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Yellow Jackets at 2:00 p.m. Blue Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Blue Ridge is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering A.C. Flora just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Fighting Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Brynlee Bayne made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greer). They came out on top against Daniel by a score of 12-7 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Yellow Jackets needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Morgan Arterburn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Zayas, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Adison Howard, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Greer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Greer's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-16-2. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.
Greer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Blue Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. It's a different story for Greer, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Blue Ridge's hitters?
Blue Ridge took their victory against Greer when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 15-8 score. Do the Fighting Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellow Jackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
