Softball Recap: Fairdale's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Fairdale came into Friday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Seneca Red Hawks on Friday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. The Bulldogs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26th (when they won 18-0).

Paige Tingle was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Brooke Higdon was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Perry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Fairdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .700. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 6-8. As for Seneca, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Fairdale will take on Breckinridge County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs are facing the Fighting Tigers at the right time seeing as the Fighting Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Seneca, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Valley at 5:30 p.m. The Vikings will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
