Basketball Recap: Paxton Extends Winning Streak to Six

Paxton had won five straight games and Kenzie Lassiter did her part to make it six on Tuesday. The Paxton Bobcats snuck past the Freeport Bulldogs with a 63-57 victory thanks in part to Lassiter, who posted 14 points and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Carson, who had five points along with six assists and four steals. That's the most assists she has posted since back in January.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jasmine Miles, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. Olyvia Snodgrass was another key player, putting up 19 points and five rebounds.

Paxton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Freeport, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Paxton will take on Baker in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Paxton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season. Freeport and Blountstown will compete for holiday cheer at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
