The Central Dauphin Rams will be playing at home against the Harrisburg Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Central Dauphin fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their game on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-20 win over Central Dauphin East. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-14.
Central Dauphin had a senior duo take command as Miles Copper rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries and Key'Ron Plummer rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Kyle Mccullough was in the mix too, providing Central Dauphin with two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Central Dauphin's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Joseph Bass and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Harrisburg had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 60-14 win over Chambersburg at home. Given Harrisburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Chambersburg is ranked 139th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central Dauphin's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Harrisburg, their victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Central Dauphin was dealt a bruising 42-7 defeat at the hands of Harrisburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Central Dauphin, Mahkai Hopkins (who rushed for 143 yards while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
