The Corbett Cardinals were the 41-0 winner over the Clatskanie Tigers when they last played one another back in October of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Corbett received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 31-14 to Clatskanie. Corbett has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Corbett saw an underclassman step up: Cade Holwege rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Zane Davis was another key contributor, rushing for 150 yards and a touchdown.
Corbett's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Clatskanie, the win was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Corbett will head out on the road to face off against Toledo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clatskanie, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Vernonia/Jewell at 7:00 p.m. Vernonia/Jewell is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
