Baseball Recap: Grace Academy Has No Trouble Against York Prep

Grace Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against York Prep on Tuesday. The Lions put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 15-3 victory. Considering the Lions have won eight matchups by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Hartnett made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nick Coccus was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Grace Academy is undefeated when Coccus posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Fletcher Owens was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Grace Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Grace Academy pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for York Prep, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Looking ahead, Grace Academy will welcome Jackson Day at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for York Prep, they will venture away from home to challenge Pro Stock Royals Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
