King Academy waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Wardlaw Academy Patriots 16-9. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Elijah Hutto and Casen Buzhardt made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hutto struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Buzhardt tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because King Academy is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. At bat, Hutto scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances, while Buzhardt scored a run while going 2-for-5. Hutto has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Greyson Rikard was a standout: he fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those home runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Landell Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.

King Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

King Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Wardlaw Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King Academy will face off against Laurens Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are facing the Crusaders at the right time seeing as the Crusaders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Wardlaw Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Newberry Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
