For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Deer Park and West Valley meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. Deer Park put the hurt on West Valley with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Stags, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Hailey Thompson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucy Lathrop, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kapri Bailey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Deer Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Pullman lost 23-8 to Moscow on Saturday. The Greyhounds have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Taylor Cromie was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2.

Pullman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Deer Park has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 14.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Pullman, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Deer Park's sizable advantage in that area, Pullman will need to find a way to close that gap.
Deer Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Pullman in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 15-13. Will Deer Park repeat their success, or does Pullman has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
