The Bland County Bears had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They snuck past Narrows with a 55-49 win. Given Bland County's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Narrows is ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bland County can attribute much of their success to Danielle Sanders, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Sanders is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Tinley Worley was another key contributor, scoring 25 points.
Bland County's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Narrows, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-1.
Bland County will take on Floyd County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Narrows, they will square off against James Monroe at TBD on Saturday.
