The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Amelia Academy in their matchups with Brunswick Academy: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Amelia Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isabella Arbitelle. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with five steals. That was a full 76.2% of Amelia Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Brunswick Academy found their leader in underclassman Emily King, who scored 19 points. King has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Reese, who scored 12 points.
Amelia Academy bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home. As for Brunswick Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Amelia Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday. As for Brunswick Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
