Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Bertie's Third in Last Four Outings

If Gates County wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bertie, they should've done a better job of containing Zymiere Dempsey. The Bertie Falcons breezed by the Gates County Red Barons to the tune of 88-36 on Friday thanks in part to Dempsey, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Rahmeek Outlaw was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points and five steals. He is becoming a predictor of Bertie's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

Bertie has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Gates County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Bertie will square off against Martin County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gates County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tarboro at 7:30 p.m.
