It was a good run, but the Aquinas Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a serious blow against Ontario Christian, falling 83-37. Aquinas was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-18.
When it comes to explaining why Aquinas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Breanna Bates. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Bates is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachelle LoBianco, who scored seven points.
Ontario Christian found their leader in underclassman Kaleena Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine assists. Smith is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 24 or more in the last 19 games she's played. Amanda Ajobiewe was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Aquinas' loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-7. As for Ontario Christian, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-3.
Aquinas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ontario Christian also has no future games currently scheduled.
