Baseball Game Preview: Cole Cougars vs. Randolph Ro-Hawks

Cole has gone 8-2 against Randolph recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Cole will take on Randolph at 5:00 p.m. Cole has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cole came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-6 to Canyon Lake. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since March 12, 2024.

Evan Garcia was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Joseph Zinnante made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Kadence Noring also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, Randolph didn't have quite enough to beat Great Hearts Northern Oaks last Friday and fell 9-8.

Randolph has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Cole's record is now 4-10.

Cole came out on top in a nail-biter against Randolph in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Will Cole repeat their success, or does Randolph has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
