After a string of three wins, the Summit Academy Bears's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The match between Summit Academy and Richfield wasn't particularly close, with Summit Academy falling 45-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Summit Academy has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Summit Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Avery Backus. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Backus is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Regan Georgeson was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Kamryn Knutson was the offensive standout of the matchup as she dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbee Albrecht, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Summit Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Richfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Summit Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Parowan at 12:00 p.m. on December 16th. Parowan is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Richfield won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Beaver at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Beaver will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
