IV Section IV recap September 10, 2013
Coolidge took down Globe 49-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Bears led IV Section IV in scoring this week by notching 49 points on the Tigers.
Florence's dynamic duo of Bobby Herrera and Edy Ruiz proved tough for Fountain Hills to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Herrera threw for 347 yards and 2 touchdowns and Ruiz had 240 yards receiving. Oscar Rodriguez helped Florence's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 83 yards.
The Gophers' dynamic duo of Herrera and Ruiz proved to be unstoppable against the Falcons, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Antonio Campanella was the best running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 227 yards as Seton Catholic lost to Fountain Hills. Teammate Kyle Johnson added to the ground attack by rushing for 14 yards.
Ruiz had a great week catching the football as Steve McKane's team fell to Jim Fairfield's team.
Campanella was a beast in the backfield as the Sentinels beat Maricopa.
Ruiz was the best receiver in the league this week as the Gophers lost to the Falcons.
Herrera put up the best numbers through the air as Florence fell to Fountain Hills.
Richard Douglas was a key player and the best on defense this week as Seton Catholic defeated the Rams. The 6-foot-2 senior grabbed 2.0 sacks.
He was 17-41 with 2 interceptions.
The Gophers' Herrera and Ruiz have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading IV Section IV in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Herrera has thrown for 480 yards this season, while Ruiz has 12 catches for 245 yards. Rex Bowser's team's Campanella leads the league in rushing yards with 275.
Combs made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,798 from 8,409. The improvement came about via a 35-14 victory over Canyon State Academy last week.
