Basketball Recap: Mason Miles Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Edisto

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hampton County, Lake Marion was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Edisto Cougars by a score of 47-40. For the Gators, this counts as revenge for the 45-31 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Lake Marion's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Miles, who posted 11 points and six rebounds. Ashton Jamison was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Lake Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Lake Marion pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Edisto, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Marion will face off against Whale Branch at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Marion is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season. As for Edisto, they will square off against Bridges Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bridges Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Edisto likes a good challenge.
