The Forest Wildcats will take on The Villages Charter Buffalo at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Forest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Forest turned things around against Charlotte on Saturday. They never let the Fightin' Tarpons get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.
Not much got past Makenna Boyd, who gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Charlotte off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaiden Prestipino, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Naomi Meyer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Forest hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charlotte struck out seven times.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times The Villages Charter and Tavares have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Villages Charter blew past Tavares 10-1. The Buffalo might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
The Villages Charter let Alexis Swetnam and Lexy Sanchez run wild. Swetnam went 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple, while Sanchez scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Sanchez has posted since back in April of 2024. Payton Foley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
The Villages Charter's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 12 hits in those games compared to only 5.22 in the others. As for Forest, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Forest has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it's not like The Villages Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Forest couldn't quite get it done against The Villages Charter when the teams last played back in February of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can Forest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
