The Prospect Panthers will square off against the Piedmont Hills Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Piedmont Hills will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Prospect extended their winning streak to nine on Friday. Everything went the Panthers' way against Silver Creek as they made off with a 17-2 win.
Kendall Tabora made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Prospect got a massive performance out of Isa Shields, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Shields has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Dani Rauscher, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Prospect always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.
Meanwhile, Piedmont Hills won against Christopher on Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Pioneer. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on six straight.
Like Prospect, Piedmont Hills also got a great game from a two-way player: Ava Martinez. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Martinez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Leilani Ortiz and Isabella Paskert did most of the damage at the plate: Ortiz went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Paskert went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits Ortiz has posted since back in March. Danie Pacheco was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and three stolen bases.
Prospect pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Piedmont Hills, their record now sits at 16-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Prospect has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Piedmont Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Prospect might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Piedmont Hills when the teams last played back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
