The Jordan Panthers will square off against the Dominguez Dons at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jordan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Jordan took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy 9-2. The Panthers have beaten the Warriors the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.
The team relied heavily on Cris Aleman, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. Sam Dixon was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Dominguez hadn't done well against Jordan recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way. Dominguez walked away with an 8-5 victory over Jordan.
Oscar Villa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Villa was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Alexis Hernandez was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Esteban Murillo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Dominguez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jordan only posted an OBP of .324.
Dominguez's win bumped their record up to 2-0-1. As for Jordan, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.
