Apex proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Holly Springs Golden Hawks 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Golden Hawks: they've now won five in a row.

Apex took Holly Springs into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-15, 23-25, 25-27, 18-16.

Emma Ingraham paced Apex's offense, picking up 14 kills. Ingraham got some help from Paola Quirez and her 23 assists. Rylee Moyer controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Ashley Diebler and Ella Brueckmann certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Diebler had 18 assists and 16 digs, while Brueckmann had 18 digs and seven assists.

Apex's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Holly Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Apex has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Fuquay - Varina on the 18th. As for Holly Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Green Hope on the 14th.
