The Washington Pam Pack's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 74-40 loss at the hands of Northside - Pinetown. While losing is never fun, Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while Northside - Pinetown is ranked 109th).
When it comes to explaining why Washington lost, one person who can't be blamed is Breanna Perry. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with five rebounds. Perry scored a full 57.5% of Washington's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Leading Northside - Pinetown to victory were Madison Scheffler and Oliviajane Cahoon. Scheffler scored 23 points along with seven rebounds, while Cahoon scored 27 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The match was Cahoon's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mariah Jones, who scored seven points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Washington bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Northside - Pinetown, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Craven at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. West Craven has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 194 points over their last three matches. Northside - Pinetown won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Columbia at 6:00 p.m. on December 22, 2023. Columbia is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
