After each having a week off, the Lassiter Trojans and the Sequoyah Chiefs will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sequoyah took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lassiter, who comes in off a win.
Lassiter is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 49-7 win over Pope. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Trojans with their most commanding win of the season.

Mitch Seaman
09/19/25 @ Pope | 167.8 |
08/29/25 vs Northview | 153.8 |
08/15/25 @ Midtown | 151 |
08/22/25 @ Alexander | 119.3 |
08/30/24 @ Northview | 116.4 |
Lassiter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mitch Seaman out in front who threw for 170 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Seaman a new career-high in passer rating (167.8). Drew McGee was in the mix too, providing Lassiter with two scores.
Lassiter's run defense was locked in: Pope could only muster 2.8 yards per carry. The Trojans didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Collins Price, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Sequoyah came up short against River Ridge last Friday and fell 28-21. Despite 76 more yards than the Knights, the Chiefs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Lassiter will have to contain Will Rajecki as he made an impact in Sequoyah's last game. He rushed for 101 yards, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and one touchdown. Rajecki's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.
Lassiter's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average over those games. As for Sequoyah, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lassiter has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 173.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sequoyah struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 225.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Lassiter was taken down by Sequoyah 43-6 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rajecki, who rushed for 100 yards and three TDs on only ten carries, and also picked up 89 receiving yards. Now that the Trojans know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
