Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Tellico Plains

Tellico Plains extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 5-8 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Copper Basin Cougars. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Addison Woods, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Skyler Day, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tellico Plains kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

As for Copper Basin, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Copper Basin's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinsley Ross, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tellico Plains will take on Midway at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Copper Basin, they will face off against Hiwassee Dam at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
