The Iberia Rangers's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Linn Wildcats on Friday. Iberia put the hurt on Stover with a sharp 61-37 win. For Iberia, this counts as revenge for the 62-26 defeat Stover walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Iberia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexa Rowden, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Rowden scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Acelyn Bauer, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Stover lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ashlyn Pinzke, who scored 11 points along with six steals. Pinzke scored a full 29.7% of Stover's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Helen Black was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Stover were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Iberia only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Iberia's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Stover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Iberia will be playing in front of their home fans against Vienna at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Stover, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
