After flying high against South Bend Career Academy last Saturday, Plymouth came back down to earth. The Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies took a 70-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rochester Zebras on Tuesday. Plymouth's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kadyn Ellery, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Ellery is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Preston Wolfe, who went 6-for-13 en route to 17 points.
Drew Bowers was his usual excellent self, going 14-for-23 to rack up 32 points for Rochester. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Baugher, who posted ten points.
Plymouth has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Rochester, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Looking ahead, Plymouth will look to defend their home court on Friday against Warsaw at 7:30 p.m. Warsaw knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Plymouth likes a good challenge. As for Rochester, they are taking a road trip to face off against Wabash at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rochester is facing Wabash at the right time seeing as Wabash is stuck on an 18-game losing streak.
